I recently won a night’s stay in any Hyatt hotel in the world. I chose the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok because I happened to be in the area at the time. I’ve always enjoyed competitions and have won quite a few things over the years. I wondered what else might be on offer, so here’s a quick round-up of some of the foodie competitions which are currently open.
Check out Channel 4’s competition page. Their current competitions have prizes such as a year’s supply of sausages, a cookery course, and River Cottage and Rick Stein breakfast experiences. (UK residents only.)
Food and Travel magazine are offering readers the chance of winning one of three superb De’Longhi coffee machines. The top prize is worth £999.99! (UK residents only. Competition closes 31 July 2009.)
UKTV are offering a prize of £200 worth of Waitrose vouchers for photographing food which you’ve cooked using their recipes. I couldn’t see their terms and conditions without registering and logging in (yawn). However, it might be worth a go for keen food photographers. By the way, the competition page also has links to pages with some useful tips about food styling and food photography which you should bare (sic) in mind. Despite the lack of professional proofreading, it’s well worth a visit just for these tips even if you’re not planning to enter the competition.
Australian Gourmet Traveller always has a few competitions on the go. You can check out their competition page for their latest. (Australia residents only.)
Aha! At last I’ve found one for our readers in France. Here’s a chance to win a week’s boating holiday in France. OK, so it’s not really a foodie prize, but think of all the wine you can enjoy whilst visiting the French vineyards en route. The terms and conditions don’t specify that you have to be resident in any particular country. However, you are responsible for the cost of getting to your departure point in France. Closes 15 August 2009. School holidays excluded.
Have fun!
