FSA Scotland revealed yesterday that the single largest source of campylobacter food poisoning in Scotland is… chicken!

The CaMPS (Campylobacter MLST (Multilocus Sequence Typing) Project in Scotland) research project compared campylobacter bacteria recovered from cases of human infection with those from a variety of food and other sources. It found that chicken sold in shops was the biggest culprit, but that cattle and sheep on farms were also potential sources of infection.
